ASSISTED LIVING

Support independence, with help close at hand

Give residents practical ways to call for help while keeping daily life comfortable and familiar. DCC combines wireless call options, voice call-back, resident check-ins, and added bedside support as individual needs change.

DESIGNED AROUND ASSISTED LIVING

A home-like setting with a connected care team

In retirement residences offering assisted living, privacy and independence need to be balanced with readily available support. A wearable pendant may suit one resident, while another needs a bedside call cord or help with transfers. DCC lets you combine those choices and direct calls to the staff responsible for each area.

  • Voice & bedside support

EVERYDAY CARE

Help when residents want it, without hovering

Assisted living residents manage much of their own day. The system should be easy to reach, then stay out of the way.

A reassuring conversation

With a Communication Hub or supported voice endpoint, staff can speak with the resident after an alert to understand the request and let them know assistance is coming.

A simple daily check-in

Residents can confirm they are up and about with a check-in button. Configured check-in windows give staff a follow-up event when a confirmation is missed.

Support changing care needs

Add bedside calls, bed- or chair-exit monitoring, and station-based staff assist as needed. For residents who need monitored-door protection, wander management can complement the nurse call workflow.

HARDWARE THAT FITS

Practical choices for assisted living

Select devices around the room, the resident, and the response you want to support. These are useful starting points for a site-specific design.

Resident Pendants

Resident Pendants

Keep a wireless nurse call button with the resident as they move around covered areas. Choose supported location or fall-detection options where appropriate to individual needs.

Resident Check-In Station

Resident Check-In Station

A dedicated one-button check-in point supports a daily routine. DCC records confirmations and raises missed check-in events for staff follow-up.

Fall Pad Monitor

Fall Pad Monitor

Use bed or chair pads with a Fall Fighter monitor for residents who need exit monitoring. Choose wireless transmission or a connection to a compatible call station.

Bed-exit monitoring reports pad events when a resident rises or steps onto a floor pad. It is distinct from detecting a fall and supports, rather than replaces, caregiver supervision.

IN PRACTICE

A quieter community, without losing the call

Send relevant alerts directly to assigned staff on supported handsets or smartphones to reduce reliance on overhead paging. Work zones help limit unrelated notifications, while escalation keeps an unanswered request moving through the team.

Keep local sounders, visual indicators, or other alerts where the resident’s needs and community procedures call for them. Discreet does not have to mean silent everywhere.

TEAM & OVERSIGHT

Add support as residents’ needs change

Needs in assisted living shift over time. Add exit protection, staff backup and reporting without replacing what is already installed.

Add protection at selected exits

Wander management is a useful addition when residents need more support around doors. Review the entrances, exits, wearable tags, and staff response process together.

Help staff request backup

Staff-assist buttons on Multicall and Communication Hub stations support in-room care. Wearable staff devices and supported mobile tools extend access to help around the community.

Explore staff safety

Follow changing patterns

Review call frequency, response and recorded care time, and missed check-in events. Where selected, compatible activity sensors can add context for staff review as support needs evolve.

Recorded care time reflects the configured workflow; it is not independent confirmation of bedside presence. Features depend on the selected equipment and configuration.

YOUR BUILDING. YOUR STARTING POINT.

Usually wireless, wired where it fits

Wireless systems are a popular fit for assisted living, in both occupied-building retrofits and new construction. They support flexible call-point placement and future additions. Wired bedside or room devices can also be included where the building and care plan favour them.
